"Dance of the Bees" is saxophonist David French's soulful and articulate debut as a leader, and his first release on Cellar Live. The Toronto-based quartet of David French, bassist Andrew Downing, drummer Nick Fraser, and guitarist Reg Schwager worked with audio engineer Steve Bellamy to record ten original compositions that celebrate the art of jazz improvisation.
From the opening vamp of Black Tea Black through the intimate tones of Ballad from Nowhere to the groove of the title track the clarity, sincerity, and imagination of the group is well captured on this recording. In the words of Phil Dwyer, musician par excellence,
"When you listen to this recording I'm sure you will agree that it represents the power of music to edify, entertain, and heal the spirit. Enjoy."
